Recount Writing

I am learning to write a recount of my experiences.

• sequence my ideas
• use interesting words and add detail
• use time words e.g. after, next, later, finally, first etc
• use capital letters and full stops

Counting Money and Giving Change

I am learning to recognise the value of NZ coins and to add, total and give change.

I needed to count in tens and I did it.   

Pashshun, you completed the task quickly and independently.  You show that you can count up in tens.  You can try adding a wider range of coins and notes now.

Investigating Change

I liked taking part in our Inquiry Showcase and checking out how toys 
have changed during our visit to the Howick Historical Village.

Sentence Beginnings and Endings

We are learning to retell the main parts of a story accurately.



It was quite easy to read but had to think about the words.  

You did really well Pashshun, it was a tricky text and you managed to read and find the matching parts.  I liked the way you referred back to the book when you were stuck.  Mrs Templeton  

Shape Pizza - Geometry

I am learning to identify, name and sort a range of 2D shapes according to their attributes: (number of sides, corners, parallel lines, curves, size and shape etc.)

Describing a Storm

I am learning to describe a storm using my senses.

To be sucessful, I will choose interesting words to describe what I can see, hear and feel during as storm.

Visual Art: Geometric Shape Art

I have been learning to observe and compare the works of other artists and to create my own art work using geometric shapes.

To be successful I needed to look at the works of Klee, Matisse and Kandinsky (right) and cut a range of shapes in different sizes and place them carefully to create my own masterpiece. (left)

Alliteration

I am learning to write alliterated sentences.

Pashshun is pink and purple.

"First I wrote all the words that start with the 'p' sound, then I wrote a sentence. It was very tricky."

Fractions

Halves and Quarters

I have been learning to identify halves and quarters.

"It was a little bit tricky, but the more I tried the easier it got."

Youthtown Sports

Relays

We have been participating in the Youthtown Sports programme.  We have been learning how to be part of a team.

"I liked the relays but I didn't like the star jumps."

Adding Numbers

Different Numbers, Same Amount

I am learning that numbers can look different but still equal the same amount.

“Mine is different because at the top there is 5, at the bottom there is 3.  It makes 8.”

Swimming

I have been learning to swim with my head in the water.  It was a bit tricky to start with, but I think I am getting better.

My Family

My family is from New Zealand.  I have 4 people in my immediate family but I live with 10 family members.  We like going out for dinner.  We moved to Pakuranga last year. Pashshun March 2016

In writing I have been learning to use capital letters and full stops in the right places.

I found it a bit tricky to get all the capital letters right.
